There have been a couple really great trading discussions going on. I wanted to ask how long most people will wait for someone to respond to a trade offer? I've been pretty lucky over the last couple years since I started trading with most of my trades being offered by others. As a rule I try to respond within a day or two or at least let the trader know I'm interested and will counter or whatever. But as I've started trying to send more trades I've run into a couple instances where I've waited a week or more and had no response, yet the trader has logged on.
It wouldn't bother me as much but since cards in an offer aren't locked from being added to other trades I've run into instances where card were already committed in trades and having to counter to remove them only to have the other trade fall through or be counter and those cards in conflict were removed.
That also being said I've just added a few thousand more football cards to my trade list if anyone is interested in working out a trade.

I personally give it a week. Unless I get a juicy offer for one of the cards I offered, I work a roller coaster of a schedule an although I am usually on the site every day i may not be able to respond to any thing. I say a week, I have had offers disappear after a day or two and completely understand why. I guess it will just be a product of how patient you are , and how much you want/need a card i the offer.

I also generally give it a week. Unless I read the profile and the other person says be patient it may take me a while to respond. Then I’ll give a longer “tbd” time frame. One thing I wonder also up for discussion is…does it take an inordinate amount of time to respond with a simple acknowledgment such as hey I saw your proposal I’ll follow up with you when I can? I let one sit for 3 wks…sent a follow up message…crickets. Member logged on almost daily. Active trader judging by feedback. Without fail I’ll respond within 24 hrs at the very least acknowledging the offer and letting the other know I’ll get back ASAP. I’m really baffled by no acknowledgement whatsoever.

I usually wait a week but often now, I message the member first to see if they are interested in a trade mainly for the reason you stated above where it can cause cards being offered or asked for in 2 trades.
I have waited over 6 months just to see if the individual would ever respond. He logged in almost every day yet it just sat there. Yes it baffles me too.

I don't generally propose a trade yet, but I try to respond and at least acknowledge any sent my way within 24 hours (maybe more if there is a weekend involved, and my profile states that).

If I see the person is logging in but not responding, about a week.

I leave proposals/offers in there and I won't cancel it unless another one comes in and I get the "card in another offer" warning. Then I'll nuke the old offer if there hasn't been any traction on it.

I usually give it a week as well.
My issue of late has been with members making an offer, which I counter, and then I hear nothing back from them. I had to turn down two other offers which came in just after I had sent the counter, because they wanted some of the same cards. And now I wish I'd dealt with those members instead of the non-responsive one.

5-9 days, always including a full weekend in case they don't do cards during the week.
If it's a trade I really want to make, I often send a "Hey, any interest in this one?" a day or two before I withdraw.
If someone else comes in asking for the same cards, I usually go with the hot lead and withdraw the unresponsive one.
Feel free to withdraw with impunity. I have yet to hear a single complaint about me withdrawing a trade.
