I remember it clear as day. It was 1991. I was 10 years old and my first pack of cards was 1990-91 NBA Hoops. There was a baseball card shop on Avenue U and East 12th street in Brooklyn, NY. I wish I remembered the name.

Almost certain my first packs were purchased from Jelly's in Aiea, Hawaii back in ohhhh 1991/92. This was by far THE place for sports cards, comics, music and Warhammer back in the day... I'm sure it still operates, but not sure if they are still into the sports cards or not. Still have quite a few cards from that time in the collection.

I know this goes back a looong time, but my first recollection of purchasing baseball cards was in 1951. Calling it a pack then was kind of a misnomer. A single came with a stick of gum for a penny and my first purchase was from Lagorio's in Pittsfield Maine. Lagorio's was aneat little stor that specialized in cigars, fruits & vegitables and penny cndy for the kids. In 1952, you were able to get packs of Topps cards with 5 cards for a nickle so that was my first pack.

I do not sell/buy cards, my sell/trade lists are for trade only. Thanks for your understanding.

I love this thread. I don't remember "first," but I definitely remember my most frequent in the early- and mid-80s. The stationery store near our house always had a little section of card packs - wax, cello, and rack - to the left of the register. Most of my early collection came from there. Every time we were in that shopping center I'd talk my parents into stopping by.

We used to beg for a dollar from my grandmother in Readsboro, Vt and head down to the local store and pick up several packs of 1980 Topps baseball. I remember trading with my cousins for ones I needed, and marking mine up so I knew which were mine (young and dumb)....I truly got into it in 1987 for a bit when I started working (probably explains my love affair with the design), and of course at that time, they were available everywhere, I remember going to the local pizza store and picking up multiple packs. Then in college, started again with the 1990 Topps, and its been on every since.....Got into racing in 1995, and on and on and on.....

I bought my first Batman cards at Charlie's Little Store in Glasgow, MO in 1966 at the age of 8.

I bought my first pack at an SF Giants game when I was 5. I still remember spilling them everywhere on the train ride home

I don't remember any specifics, but I'm guessing I got them at a gas station when you used to be able to buy packs at them.
