Year: 1997

Set: Ultra (Rate)

Card: #524 Mike Jackson

“ My favorite design in history of cards! Used in 5 sports, it's just perfection to me. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ One of my favorite designs but one of the first sets that I recall collecting that had multiple parallels. ” -davidhandberry

“ No borders and full stats on back are always a huge plus. Excellent quality card stock, too bad that companies like Fleer and Pacific are no longer around and MLB decided that a monopoly is the way the baseball card world should go. ” -baseballcardstoreca

“ the way the stats have the glow effect from behind is awful. but the card overall is pretty good. ” -parsley24

“ i like these action shots of pitchers. to see their arms twist and bend like rubber bands.. pretty awesome ” -tonym

“ " 'Cause this is THRILLER Thriller Night..." Oh wait wrong Mike Jackson. Hehehe. Love Ultra this set used to be one of those exceptions that I "hated it" probably due to the foiling on the stylized name. Also didn't like the stylizing on the name. Like those elements now. Not thrilled with the background image on the back I feel that backs should have a plain background not a photo background. Good that there is a full stats but needs more than just that some wasted space at top that could use player's vitals, or at least some brief career highlights. ” -captkirk42

“ Nice card. 3 different pictures. Lots of stats. ” -cjjt

“ Ultra had some really cool sets I missed out on. ” -muskie027

Similar to what Billy said, I still love this design and it's one of my all-time favorites. Excellent card on both sides. There's really nothing else you can add to the card to make it better. Three action photos, full stats, a simple and pleasing design on both sides. There was a similar design 10 or 11 years later that I also really liked.

Love the borderless aspect of the set. Nice front and back as well.

I just realized that this is card #524 in the set. My favorite set ever, the NBA set, only got 300 cards. The NHL set only got 180 and the NASCAR set only got 197, although it was changed for the NASCAR set for some reason. Even football only got 350 cards. What a lack of respect.
