His career was over without the Lakers contract. He had literally had multiple teams pay him to go away in the past year. Instead, the Lakers took a chance and he proved he can still play...and adapt to a system, which is something he couldn't or wouldn't do before. His lower stats (which actually being his lowest is not true since he only played 9 games last year) are actually part of it, since he always had to be the focus in all the other teams he played with. Now, he's being successful as a role player.
VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
