Howard is a sure-fire HOFer but I don't really understand the supposed "career renaissance" narrative associated with his return to the Lakers this season, as he was averaging career lows in minutes, points, and rebounds per game when the season was suspended.

His career was over without the Lakers contract. He had literally had multiple teams pay him to go away in the past year. Instead, the Lakers took a chance and he proved he can still play...and adapt to a system, which is something he couldn't or wouldn't do before. His lower stats (which actually being his lowest is not true since he only played 9 games last year) are actually part of it, since he always had to be the focus in all the other teams he played with. Now, he's being successful as a role player.
