Year: 2018

Set: Topps (Rate)

Card: #650 Justin Verlander

“ What a career this guy has had (and is still having at age 40)! Even the best ball players are superstitious- according to a google search Verlander grabs 3 paper towels from the bathroom at the field before a start since there are 3 outs in an inning. ” -jdogg1228

“ When ace Astros pitcher Justin Verlander's ulnar collateral ligament tore, his arm was nearly dead. Deciding that "we have the technology to rebuild this man's arm", the government decides to do just that, fitting him with cybernetic components which gives his arm superhuman strength and fastball more speed. Justin becomes a secret agent/operative, striking out injustice where it is found. ” -CollectingAfterDeath

“ Nice recent design, and a future Hall of Famer! ” -tenlbpain

“ The nameplate looks like it was a victim of "The Snap" in Marvels "Avengers: Infinity War". ” -Tscastle

“ Say what you want about the lack of WS wins, he was crucial in both Houston's WS titles. Aside from all that, beautiful card. ” -Sportzcommish

“ This is what I expect out of the flagship set. Quality action image, recognizable big-leaguer, and a distinguishable set design (even if it looks like Thanos snapped the design). ” -jackal726

“ Late 2010s Topps all look the same designs. Sort of. ” -captkirk42
  2
“ The 2018 design was a sight for sore eyes after the ugly 2017 design. It won't rank as one of the best Topps designs but it certainly was acceptable ” -ketchupman36

“ Could be OCD or me making a big deal out of nothing, but I'm kinda disturbed by the fact that a slight portion of the "J" in his name is obscured by the card design. Couldn't have scooched the name over just a couple hairs? On the back, it's fine. ” -Theron_Nett

I really like the 2018 set the more I see of it. Every time I get a card in a repack box it's a treat.

I have to admit I didn't notice the snapture dust effect until just now.

Making his season, and Met debut this afternoon, against his first team, the Tigers in Detroit.

He didn’t have to look very far as a member of the 2017-18 Astros.

Similar to 92 Ultra but with a team logo graphic added. I like both but the Topps is the better looking of the two.

Who is this guy? Did he ever actually play in the bigs? Just up for a cup of coffee? Wonder if he's married?
