Best ideas/suggestions to search for cards I need. Shoudl I just 'google' the name/card#/set, etc and see what I get? There seem to be so many sites/vendors and eBay is hit n miss at times, plus I have had 3 cards come 'missing' through the USPS in the last 6 months...3 out of a lot though so the odds are ok...so I need ideas on h ow to search for missing cards in my sets. What are your fave ways to search for cards? Internet? Shows? Ebay? Craiglist? Any and all suggestions welcome!

for set listings you can go to the vendors site..like Topps, etc for set listings, to buy- for me on the internet, i use Ebay and Check Out My Cards.com . Other than than, card shops that i establish a good rapport with- they can always help out alot.
you can get a steal sometimes at flea markets and garage sales, but you gotta have time to bounce around and odds arent all that great. you can basically find what you want online.

I would add Beckett.com to the list of reputable vender sites. They have a marketplace where you can find hard-to-locate cards. Especially good if you have several individual cards you can get from a single vender. Shipping can be pricey if buying a single card but quickly becomes cost effective as you add cards to the order.

I'm glad to read that I'm not the only one losing cards through the post office. I buy most of my baseball cards using eBay or a site called Sportlots.com I should note that those two places are where I buy "newer" cards, from the last 10-15 years. I just finished a set of 1960 Topps and am working on a 1965 and 1966 set. The "older cards" I like to see before purchasing. (I'm picky about the quality.) The majority of my 60 set were purchased at shows or stores. I have used Check Out My Cards.com, which tonym recommended. COMC is nice in that you can see a front and back scan of the card you want. I've never had a problems using them. I have a friend that swears by craiglist but I've never tried it for cards. One final suggestion- Kit Young is a dealer in San Diego. The prices are high but so is the quality. If there is 1 or 2 cards you just can't find anyplace, look at his website.
Good luck and have fun!

you know, I've never really had success with craigslist. I see tons of postings with stuff that I be interested in and when actually seeing the product up front, its always of poor quality. Or i come across the "over 200K" card lots and you go and its all '80s bs with them expecting to make top dollar from it. I'm sure you could find those few real good deals in there, i think its just hard to continuly have to meet in order to find that out.
I knew a couple ppl that made out good at estate and storage sales, but again, too risky. just dont know what you're getting. I prefer to buy in person, unless now that i can view the card online.

eCrater.com has an ever-growing selection of cards. Don't forget bidstart.com. There are some sellers on Amazon. Google Shopping indexes several of these store sites, so it makes a decent aggregator.

I've had a lot of
good luck with
justcommons.com.
Anyone else shop
there for singles?
I've had a couple
of cards missed
early on (about 6
months ago), but he
has always come
through with either
a credit or shipped
them later. Quality
is as advertised
every time and
cards are shipped
and received in
less than a week
after the order is
placed. His
inventory keeps
growing and the
cart on his site is
very easy to use.

I just placed an order with JustCommons last week. Hope to get the cards soon. His prices and shipping policy really can't be beat. It's only a matter of "if" he has what you're looking for.
