Hi,
How does one go about finding and buying all the cards ever made for Tony Gwynn? Is there such a thing as a binder out there full of every single Gwynn card ever made? And if yes, is the owner willing to sell?
Thanks.

Per the site there are 13,189 cards of him. The most anyone here has only 5,126. I'm sure it has taken him years to get that many. So I would think that there is not anyone that has all of his cards.
How do you start? By buying his cards by the lot/singles and anyway you can. I have approx. 186 to start you off with.
Collecting is a journey to get what you want. Enjoy that journey.

Um, not likely. Maybe you can get a hold of a lot of the cards. There are just to many numbered cards to have them all.

Remember also that among those 13,189 cards listed there are probably a couple of handfuls of 1/1's serial-numbered cards which the current owners would be reluctant to part with.

For players like Tony Gwynn, I find it much more manageable to get all the cards for years he was playing. You would have enough of a challenge going for the obscure 80’s and 90’s stuff. Then you have the mid 90’s inserts that will challenge your wallet.

Oh, are there for sure the existence of 1/1 cards?
That's gonna be a problem. There is no way I'll ever find it, or the owner who has it. Financially too, that's a problem.

Maybe, I should change further my trading strategy.

You should try starting with the "low hanging fruit". Base cards. Lots wherever you can find them. Trade on here. Plan on maybe not going after things #/100 or lower. You can do things to make yourself a Gwynn collector, maybe ever a supercollector one day

Like just mentioned, change up your strategy. What I do is not chase anything under SN10 and I don't find that realistic either so may change to SN25. I don't chase the AUs, MEMs, MANUs, etc. Once you remove those you'd be amazed how much smaller the card count gets. But as Gwynn is a very popular target you're probably going to pay a premium for some stuff.

I started with a similar goal, to collect every single Bernie Williams card. Found a checklist of about 300 cards and thought it was doable. not the case, of course. Eventually i found my way to this site where I started with about 25-30 different Bernie Williams cards in my collection and now (2.5 years later) I am closing in on 900 unique Bernie cards. Have fun
