Does anyone have any rough estimate of what a full 3200 count BCW box would weigh? I don't have a scale on hand with me and I am not very good at judging these things. Looking into buying a shelving unit to store my cards. I am looking at a plastic one that says it holds 150 lbs per shelf. I am wondering how many boxes you think that could hold?
I currently have three 3200 count boxes and one just started on the shelf in my closet. The shelf also has all my clothes hanging from underneath it. I have no idea how much they can hold but everything seems fine so far. Just everytime I put more cards up there I worry they are all going to come tumbling down eventually.

Notta clue, but If I had to pick a number between 1 and 50, I'd conservatively guess 12 lbs. No, let's go 15 lbs. to be safe.

Yeah you're probably right. That should probably do for what I am looking for. I was looking at metal industrial shelves but that might be overkill. And it would look kind of ugly in my office.

I have a very accurate digital scale. Accurate to 1/8 ounce. I use it to weigh mail.
I just weighed a full 800-count box; 3 lbs 8 oz. So a 3200-count would be approximately 4 times that or 14 pounds.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Thanks for doing that C2Cigars. I think I should be in good shape if I get the one I am looking at getting soon.

as far as shelving goes, that is plenty good, problem lies when you stack the 3200ct boxes on top of each other. you don't want to weigh down the box under it and potentially damage any card. i have the large 3 and 4 slot boxes sitting on the floor for now totally full with cards in either top loaders, penny sleeves, and magnetic cases and some slabs, with about 3 stacked on top of each other ---and to date- this has not damaged any card on the lower boxes.

I see on the BCW website, that the boxes have a "200 lb test strength". I am assuming that means that I could stack up to 200 lbs evenly on top of a box and it wouldn't damage anything? I mean I probably wouldn't be stacking 14 boxes on top of each other, but I assume a stack of 3 or 4 should be okay?

That 200 lbs. is probably referring to Burst-Test strength. The force of pounds per square inch required to rupture, or burst, the side of a corrugated box. This method indicates the box's ability to withstand external or internal forces, and how the box will contain its contents during rough handling.
Edge-Crush-Test strength measures the stacking strength of corrugated cardboard boxes. The standard is usually a force of 32 lbs. per-square-inch before crushing. You might want to contact BCW and ask what the ECT strength is.

Probably save a whole lot of money doing it that way. Mine are all in binder pages. It'd take me 356 pages and 9 one-inch binders to store 3200 cards. I pay about $0.15 (say $0.16) cents per page and $.99 + 8.6% tax = $1.08 per binder,
so (356 x .16 cents) + (9 x $1.08) = $66.68 for me to store 3200 cards. Wow. How much does a box cost shipped? J/K.

This is why I opted for the shoebox houses from BCW. There is a slot for each shoebox, so there is no stacking boxes on boxes. Plus, I can pull any box out without having to move another. I have two houses on a shelf side-by-side, so each shelf has the capacity for over 19,000 cards.
