A man has to have goals — for a day, for a lifetime — and that was mine, to have people say, "There goes Ted Williams, the greatest hitter who ever lived."

Makes sense as Topps / Bowman are two of the most Iconic names in sportcard collecting

I guess it is a sigh of relief as it would have been difficult to NOT see Topps on baseball cards. I am hopeful that Fanatics is paying attention to the market and will improve the Topps line and clean up some of their mess. But, the mistakes in the Topps cards here and there are why they are who they are and why we collect them. It also gives us something to talk about.

Long live Topps Flagship sets. Big checklists up and down the depth chart like usual. Superstars to middle relievers, no minor league prospects. Give me that, I'm happy. Any other sets they release is just icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned.

IMO...Best news Topps fans could have asked for given the turmoil with licensing losses over the last 6 years or so. Hoping a return to football cards under the Topps name is an eventual result.

Agree this is probably the best outcome for Topps, Fanatics, and collectors. Does Fanatics buy Panini, too? I am guessing they won't. Panini will be in a world of hurt, too. They've already started losing some of their top executives.

Hate to break it to everyone, Fanatics did not out maneuver Michael Eisner to improve the hobby. No competition means no need to compete, no innovation, no price checks, take it or leave it attitude. And everything that I’ve heard about Fanatics, when they move into an area it results in high-priced low-quality merchandise. Not going to be any different here. What’s the saying? Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know.
