I have a bunch of 1991-93 Wild Card football cards that I, or no one else wants. Rather than put them in the trash, I would think I could put them in the recycling bin as they are cardboard. Or would the ink make them a no go?

I can't see how they'd be any different than a cereal box. (Unless they're chrome or otherwise non-cardboard.)

I used to just throw out cards that were too damaged to trade, but in the last few months I've started recycling them. If your area accepts cardboard for recycling, cards should qualify too.

They should be fine, it's no different than the cardboard packaging and boxes of household products that have ink on them.

I've dumped trashed cards into recycling, no issue. Before you dump, are the cards in good shape and you can't move? Or are they damaged upon rescue?

most recycling protocols are to not put "lined" cardboard like frozen foods. i would surmise that some of the coatings (wild card specifically) would be a similar chemical coating that would nulify recycling capablities. while cards like 90's topps that are pure cardboard would be recycleable. wild card, upper deck, pinnacle may not be.
TBH, if the cards are in reasonable shape, consider donating them to a children's hospital. i'm too lazy to find the forum but i'm sure there are postings where people have listed charities where they collect cards for kids.
just my 2 cents worth (which is more than that 90's topps common!)

Why not put them on Freecycle, Craigslist or fb free page so maybe others can enjoy them?

Inks and gloss additives are washed out of the paper during the recycling process. I've put many a card in my recycle bin.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Because I don't belong to Facebook, Craigslist or Freecycle and at this stage of my life, I'm not signing up. Pay me the shipping costs to get them to you and they're yours.
