I imagine people will buy it. Just think of the profit margin the card company is making. No wonder the hobby is destroyed for young kid collectors. There isn't enough profit in making inexpensive cards for kids when they can roll something like that out.

I feel that the only people who truly care about what comes out of that box are already too far gone to care about the hobby, the kids, and any kind of market crash that may or may not be coming. Those 1/1's will be sold to others who covet 1/1's, only to be sold again, and again... it's like artwork for investors pretty much. I just feel bad for whatever person, family and/or charity who sees someone spending $50k on silly stuff and not on something really beneficial to the well-being of the community.

Just watched the video. I actually like Packman's measured approach from previous outrageously expensive videos. However, when he pulled a Lorenzo Cain relic 1/1 I laughed. Yeeuch. I guess if he finds the right Brewers fan...

I will add 1/1s to my collection, but I don't really count them as cards needed to complete my collection. They really hold no fascination for me.

Turning off trading because my collection is in complete disarray after moving and I don't know when I can get it organized.

Very well said, i personally refer to this as irresponsible spending while those whom have those means and are not affected by dropping 50k in the garbage should contact me and let me know about it so i can spread the joy that 50k may.
Ultimately to each their own to do as they like, after all it's theirs and who am i (are we)??
Problem it creates and the more that people sign up for it(breakers and consumers) is the companies(Topps etc..) produce less cards, put out less effort, and charge more for it all.
It may be time to bury the kids thing they aren't the ones buying it like we used to when we were young because we had dimes and quarters, they'd need to walk around with what a minimum 5$ bill now to get 1 pack and more than likely not available at the corner store nor supermarket etc.
The charge less to make more mindset only seems to be available at 1 place nowadays
TOOT TOOT!! (purely intended for humorous purpose)

Regarding burying the kids thing. I understand what you are saying. What I am really saying is that by forgetting the kids these companies are destroying their long term business. I think their are mainly two types of consumers these days. There are lottery players/investors and there are collectors who bought cards as a kid and now have some expendable cash and enjoy collecting as it brings back fond memories. As time passes, that second group of consumers will dwindle off because most kids aren't collecting these days. Maybe the card manufacturers believe the investors can carry the hobby many years down the road? I suspect the whole thing will crash at some point and I really have no idea what trading card production will look like then.

Absolutely agree, long term vision has long ago taken a back seat which is kinda why we are where it's at.
The lottery dream card people are pricing out those whom enjoy(ed) a fun hobby because they continue to dream about some mythical pull that just won't happen out of a $225 2022 Panini Absolute Baseball Factory Sealed Hobby Box for 1 example, so if you're going to buy a 20 card box for that kinda $ then i may as well just keep upping the gouge says Panini et all. Crazy that's over an average of $10 per card!
Breakers of expensive products while rendering thrills a bit more affordable aren't really helping because they advocate much like a Jabs type person, that spending ludicrous amounts on breaks, boxes and packs are ok, new release you gotta buy into it, so as long as the card doctors prescribe....

everyone talking about him buying a $50k box. He didn't buy it. The box was donated by Whatnot who just wrote it off as advertising expense. And most of the pulls will be auctioned off on his Official Whatnot! livestream.
