Thought I'd bring up a fun discussion. What is the worst thing you've ever done to a card? I'd say the worst thing I've done is spill a cup of water on some cards, and not knowing what I was doing then, I put it on my radiator. My radiator is forever stained with paper of Miguel Cabrera and Randy Johnson now.

Put it in a storage box next to a Barry Bonds card. The stink just will not wear off no matter what I do.

I was helping my best friend who had a card shop break cases to make team sets and sell the inserts on ebay. I opened a pack that had a Cal Ripken Jr MANU card (SN50 or 25) and I proceeded to drop it as I was opening it, crunching the corner tremendously (more than a small ding). (Thankfully, he was still able to sell it for a decent amount.)
I have also ripped thousands of cards in half. I was paid to do so. But it felt so wrong to do it.

I may have puked on some cards in college. Memory of the event is a little fuzzy.

Put it in the microwave. Was trying to unstick cards that got stuck together and thinking of ways to how to. This was way before anyone knew how to unstick UV coated bricked cards. Thought microwaving would work. Let's say sparks flew

As a kid I flung cards around the room so that I could enjoy the sight of my increasingly excited cat smacking them around out of the air. Not the cards were in great shape anyway but cat claw puncture wounds probably didn't help their look overall I'm sure.

I lent my football card collection to to my childhood best friend when I was 14. I had complete sets from 1976-1982 plus a lot of 60's and 70's cards (Jim Browns) and HIS mother threw them away! I was so devastated, that I stopped collecting football cards for over 20 years. I still get sick about it!

When I was little I showed early signs of things always having to be correct and in the right spot. So, if a player was traded to another team, I would scratch out the old team name and write in the new one (thus Orlando Cepeda cards on the Cardinals were marked up with Braves). That way when I sorted my cards by team, then a traded player could be with his current team. In addition, I also cut a few of the two player rookie cards in half so that I could keep all the cards of the same player together. I don't recall if I did this to a Ryan rookie (I don't think I did), but I'm pretty sure I did it to a Thurman Munson rookie.
In adulthood, I decided that the penny sleeve on a Marcus Semien rookie Heritage card was too long so I put the penny sleeve - with the card still in it - in a paper trimmer to trim off the extra length of the penny sleeve. I completely misread the marker lines on the paper trimmer and proceeded to slice off the top 1/8 inch of the card instead of just the excess plastic on the sleeve.
Sometimes you just need to leave well enough alone.
