I collect a lot of hockey things. One of the things i like to collect are custom cards. These are not reprints of already existing cards. They are from people like Banty Red and Micks Cards. They are new takes on vintage cards or they are the missing players from sets that were never made.
I love these type of cards. I know they are not popular especially with dealers / investors that are in the hobby to just make money. There are some really cool and nice quality cards out there that are being made. Just wondering true collectors out there are custom cards a part of your collection? If not is there a reason why?

I have seen a lot of my Husker players having them. I would have them in my collection BUT not at the prices they are asking for.

I really like customs. I make quite a few. I'd collect a lot more of them if there were less rules keeping them off here.

I have a run of Pete Rose, Topps 1962- 1979, just cause he's not in Archives.

Parkhurst did a complete custom set of vintage cards (the missing link set) from 1966-67 season back in 1995. I thought those were decent. so I bought a couple of boxes. Each pack had like a plastic sheriff coin made as an insert for the set. Really cool.

Do not chase or collect them. But there are some nice ones and if they were for the right price I'd probably pick some up in person.
I made a few custom cards. Want to make a relic card because I have a ticket autographed and want to make it into a relic card then get it slabbed. That way I can have the auto as a card.

I like some of them sometimes, but I don't chase them or actively collect them. For some it is a fun part of the hobby but it isn't for me.

Custom Cards...... My first thoughts go to the 80s and 90s Broders, not necessarily custom, but not the BIG TIME producers. I have recently seen quite a few AMAZING looking card that put Topps Project 2020 cards to shame. I think if I found ANYTHING Haniger or Boggs I always pick it up. A bit frustrating that I can't log them here, but if we allowed them, what keeps someones child or neighbor making 100 1/1 Wander Franco's.

Forget about "someones child or neighbor", what's to keep us from doing this. It's a very slippery slope.
