I am 80 completed trades in and I finally got a bad one. I feel a little silly that I didn't ask for a picture of the card, but most people have been very open about cards with serious issues for me. What got me is I had made a very fair initial offer to this person who, knowing the condition of their card, still added several more cards to make it very lopsided in their favor. I accepted it thinking maybe the card was in better condition than I thought. Then this person sent what they sent (severely miscut card).

My question is: what do you guys do in this situation as far as feedback? My first instinct was to not leave any at all. I've learned a lesson, and I don't want to start anything. That said, I feel like the way they countered was a bit sketchy and maybe people should be aware of that. What do you think?

I'd stop assuming and ask about condition if that's important to you. Leaving a neutral would send a message that you received your cards but something about the trade was off and you wouldn't trade with him/her again.

Yeah. I usually don't care about condition which is why I didn't ask except saying I didn't want major paper loss or severe surface wear. That is definitely on me. This is the kind of miscut card I'd never send to anyone without telling them though, let alone counter for more. That's why I'm kind of hesitant about how to respond.

It's not on you. You shouldn't have to ask if a card is misscut.

If it was a negative trade experience leave negative feedback along with a comment why.

I second this approach. You may want to message the member first and just mention where you're coming from. They may be willing to throw you a bone, so to speak, to avoid taking a hit to their feedback rating.

I always message the person before leaving negative feedback and even then it should be REALLY bad before leaving a negative.  I am very proud of my 100% trade rating with over 800 feedback, but I also know that I am not perfect. 

In your case, I would probably expect some type of communication if there is a problem with the card like that, but not everyone thinks like that.  Something that would be a major problem to some people, I might not even notice or care about.  I have had people message me and apologize profusely about a card's condition before sending and including additional cards.  When I got the card in, it looked absolutely fine to me and I probably wouldn't have even noticed had it not been pointed out. 

Point being that not everyone thinks the same way about conditions.  Doesn't make either party right or wrong, just different ways of looking at life.  I would not leave a negative unless I TRULY believed the person was trying to scam me purposely.  Just my opinion.

I think I would third that after I check if there was notes about the card I missed or after a understanding from both sides.. maybe someones idea of miscut is another person of not to bad or vice versa but careful throwing your disputes to the forums as many people might decline to trade with you

I was really just looking for advice on how people deal with these situations. I'd never had anything even remotely similar happen. I didn't name the person. I suppose if someone really wanted to dig they could figure it out.

Anyway, I didn't do anything. I just won't trade with that person again. I've already got a replacement card coming in from elsewhere. I'm considering it a lesson learned. 

Maybe I missed it in the thread but did you talk to the person and disclose your displeasure with the miscut card?
