I was working on the Team list for football and ran across the 2014 Upper Deck USA football set. The name USA was not showing as a valid name, no TID associated with it. So out of curiousity I went and looked and the other USA team references in the database. In baseball i spot checked a couple and they have TID #63 (USA). I checked the Multi-Sport checklists and some of them are associated with #63 and some are associated with TID#1161 (USA). What is the right TID for the football sets? Should there only be one reference for USA as a whole, should there be one for all the different catagories in the database? Should there be one for only International USA sports and then one for the football? Not sure how to play this one out.

One for each sport, just as you wouldn't have one PID for the St. Louis Cardinals or New York Giants.

However, when you get to Misc Sports (such as Olympics), there would be one PID to cover all Misc.

Additional wuestion, I'm looking at the first card in the set you mentioned (https://www.tradingcarddb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/136638/cid/9057121/2014-Upper-Deck-USA-1-Tyler-Wiegers) and is this an actual team that competed?

The second card in the set states that Saeed Blacknall "caught one pass for eight yards in Team USA's 43-7 win over Team Canada in the 2014 U-19 International Bowl".

It gets a little deluted when it comes to the different sports. Do we create for just strickly Olympic associated sports and then one for International sports?  

Until 2017, USA Football governed/oversaw the USA National teams that competed in the International Bowl and World Games. So the football category needs a "USA" TID.
