Yet another
question, just
finished dbl chking
all black names in
a checklist that I
added for an
Edmonton Oiler set,
there are 35 names
that need a PID, do
I do this, do I
send a list
somewhere, or just
leave it until
Admin does it at
some point? Thx.

You could do it. That's not something Admins usually do unless there are unusual circumstances. If you click the Things To Do list in the Features heading at the bottom of the screen, you will find thousands of sets with names that need PIDs. It's a daunting task, but I find that when I create a PID it often picks up some cards out of some of those other sets. By the way, who are those guys in that big Oilers team set that don't have PIDs already? I think you mean the Action Magazine set you added. That's a big team set. Were those players who were drafted but never made the team? I was just curious about those names.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Yes it is, all
players that played
at least a few
games for them in
the NHL in their
first 1o years, it
was a quite a task
on my rookie card
list to even find
this set but lucked
out at an Antiques
and collectible
show quite a few
years back. Getting
to the adding part,
I looked through
all that stuff but
it all comes across
as French to me, I
just cant seem to
make any sense of
it.

When doing the list
I found three
players with other
cards listed but
the names still in
black .... Risto
Jalo, Todd Strubey
and Kari Jalonen
all showed cards in
different sets yet
the name does not
show up when you do
a search.

I have NO CLUE what
you mean by
creating a PID, if
I can do it your
going to have to
draw me a picture.
After a wasted
afternoon I am no
closer to figuring
out what you mean
by doing it myself.
Am completely lost.

Among the massive pile of links at the bottom of the site, click the one that says "Permissions". Editing names and adding a new player requires Level 3 permissions. If you don't have Level 3 yet, then you do not yet have the ability to do so.

some dumb reason I
can make no sense
on how to add new
names to the
database ... its
pathetic really.

I can see somebody
is doing
something ... not
sure what but there
are now three names
on the list I see
that have had their
names added to
the "linked to"
column ... sure
wasn't me ........

OK so this is what
I did .... I
clicked on the edit
link in the "linked
to" column which
brought up a new
screen that has the
players name, etc
and a button that
is labelled "create
links" .... I
clicked on it and
suddenly there is a
new area in
the "Linked to
PIDs" area ... as
soon as I do that
his name now
appears in
the "linked to"
column just as the
other three players
are. Is that
correct as I did
not do the other
three and it
matches them? I'm
going on a hope and
prayer that I did
it correct.

Ok, go to a card for a player that is not in the system yet.
Beneath the card images, should be a button called "Turn Editing On" and Click it.
Now you should see some edit options next to the player name, team name and notes.
Click "edit name"
For players not in the system, next to the "Linked to PID" box should be a link that says Add New Name.
Click that link and it should take you to a page showing possible matches for your new player. If there is no sign of your player in the possible matches list, then you can click the Add button, and it will create a PID for the name you entered. In the case of spelling variations, if you do find the name in the possble matches list, then take note of the PID, back up a screen and enter the PID into the Linked To box and it will attach that card to that player's PID.
