Not sure how to "add" people to the In Memoriam section but one of the original Royals passed away today, Bob Oliver at the age of 77. Mr. Oliver's son Darren also played/ pitched in the MLB. It seemed like about every third pack of 1972 cards in opened had his card in it.

Sorry to hear that. I remember Bob from when he was with the California Angels. Bonus fact: both Bob and Darren Oliver were teammates of Nolan Ryan, Bob with the Angels in '72-'74 and a Darren with the Rangers in '93.

I was going to add the death date to his profile, but I couldn't find a source that said the actual date. Just that it was announced today. May his family find comfort.

I'm pretty sure he was one of the first guys in the majors who used a black bat ... see 1971 Dell stamp.
