I just wanted to create this thread to honor the life and memory of arguably the greatest up-and-coming pitcher in baseball, who was taken from this world too soon. Feel free to pay your respects here everyone. I still can't believe it...

Just saw the headline and shocked. One of the happiest baseball players who took joy in just playing the game.

Oh no! I hadn't heard!! Very sad. Sympathy to any Marlins fans out there especially. This is terrible news. Such an incredible pitcher.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

It's tragic. I still remember when Steve Olin and Tim Crews died in a boating accident in 1993. Jose Fernandez was an amazing talent. My sympathies to his family, friends, and teammates.

I just read the quote of Jose's on the back of his 2016 Topps card. He said, "Every five days, I go into a start as if it's the last game I'll ever pitch." Well, he certainly did that last Wednesday, throwing eight innings of shutout ball in a Marlins win. RIP Jose.

This is so sad. So young. I was eleven when Ken Hubbs was killed in a plane crash at age 22 and it really upset me. If you are a Cubs fan, you should know who Ken Hubbs was. First rookie to win a gold glove. LIke Hubbs, Jose Fernandez had everything ahead of him. He will be missed.

I happen to be in Florida this weekend and attended last night's Marlins game with my son. I had just purchased tickets for today's game when an hour later I heard about Jose Fernandez. Wow.

We went to CitiField today to take in the Phillies vs. Mets game. We weren't listening to the radio or anything on the drive in. We found out when they had the moment of silence. Talk about being stunned. I was living in south Florida when the Marlins had their inaugural season. They became my 2nd team. I enjoyed watching Fernandez pitch, and I enjoyed seeing him help out on vshows on MLB Network. Seemed like he was bubbly enough to have a future in broadcasting when his playing days were done.
I'm shocked, and saddened by the news that he has died at age 24. We have lost quite a few in baseball at too young an age, but it never gets easier.
