Well, he did walk 2,795. That's over 10,000 pitches out of the strike zone. Seriously, for some reason, they dont like to put a person in unanimously. Why, I do not know. But I guess for someone like Ryan, they get together and one gets to be the goat who doesn't vote for him.

Only Seaver and Griffey have higher percentages.

Didn't know till I looked up his stats, but he also hit 2 homers, and had 3 stolen bases.

Make that three with Rivera ;)
Honestly, this was in the time where for whatever BS reason players just DIDN’T get unanimous elections.
Ranging from [insert iconic player] never got it (usually DiMaggio who didn’t gets votes because some sports writers didn’t think he was going to stay retired) to “well, he’s getting in so I’ll give votes to players who deserve a vote or deserve to stay on the ballot.”
Though now that the cherry has been popped and voters with those kinds of attitudes are getting less prominent among the electoriate, its probably a safe bet to assume we’re going to start seeing a whole bunch of unanimous selections.

If there's a TCDB award for Oldest Suddenly Dragged Up Forum Posting, this has a real shot!
But I'm always game to talk about Hall of Famers. For whatever reason, the very first HOFers didn't get in unanimously. So after that, there were always a few voters who thought, well, if Ruth didn't get all the votes, Maddux (who should have been unanimous) or [insert name here] shouldn't get all the votes. Until, finally, this year, they got over it, thank goodness. But they've offset that bit of sanity, by allowing the great Harold Baines into the Hall of Fame. But there are always a few guys who got in for questionable reasons. Heck, my favorite trio of Tinkers and Evers and Chance probably only got in because of a poem.

I think beating the snot out of Ventura should be listed under his career highlights. Saw him pitch a game at Tiger stadium and managed to sneak into the seats behind home plate. Sat next to a lady with the hairiest legs I'd ever seen, until I had 3 daughters. Lol the special memories you never forget.
