just recently found my official versions of these cards. got two decks given to me before the ground war started. the backs are blue and have US Embassy in Kuwait on them. would they be considered a different set, variation, parallel set, etc??

That's a good question.  At first I was thinking obviously parallel since the only difference is the back.  However, since they came as a full set and wasn't inserted into the set we have listed, I would argue maybe it should go as a different set.  I guess some could argue it would be a variation, and if convincing enough I guess I could see that too.

I can't wait to see the replies.  I just hope they don't make a similar "updated" set anytime soon.

Not sure if that would counts as I have to 2 sets, but they appear to be just the rubber stamp of who issued. 1 is 4th Infantry Division the other is has Property of US Army,

There's only one official DoD version. They were produced in CENTCOM's Graphics Shop. The artwork and images were stolen from the DoD servers and sets were produced and sold on ebay.  The US Embassy in Kuwait also had Liberty produce sets for them.

One note, Hoyle never produced a set of cards.  DoD did inadvertently use their tradmarked Joker, but Hoyle didn't object.
