During this time, I was heavily into the Hockey scene, and Pinnacle did it's cross-brand inserts in hockey before it did it in baseball. (I don't know if it did anything similar in football or basketball, so this post will only be about baseball and hockey.)
In Hockey, I had old publications that helped me determine which products had which cards. Of course, today, if you hold one of those cards in your hand, they is no way to tell from looking at the card by itself, which product it came from. Even though I published the hockey breakout more than a year ago, I noticed that our hockey sets are still not presented in this manner. (They are all lumped into "Pinnacle - Epix [Play/Game/Season/Moment] [Orange/Green/Purple]". And we have a stray "Epix" set floating around Score, but not in the other 2 products.)
I'm asking for everyone who has an opinion on this, what way should we go? Thanks to another site, I have found where the baseball ones were inserted (although 1/4 of the cards were never officially released as Pinnacle went bankrupt before the product with the last batch was released). So that set is going to be all sorts of crazy.
We currently have IRs in for a couple of these sets, and I'd like to take these on and get them right. But what is right? If I look at one of these cards, I have no idea where it came from, all it says on it is Pinnacle. BUT, if I happen to be opening a box of 1997-98 Score hockey, and pull Epix cards, I won't find them in the database. (Unless we can get Admin to link them all together????)
Let's see some opinions, and then I'll approach Admin with a solution (if we need that level of involvement, but I can't see any method that wouldn't require assistance).
Keep it all under Pinnacle (and get Admin to link the various other products it can be pulled from to that "master" listing)?
or
Break it out into the various products (Score / Pinnacle / Pinnacle Certified / Zenith) and only list the cards that were issued in each product?
Thanks.
