I have seen almost none of the "no period, 2* " variety also. I was wondering if it was a regional thing or a quantity thing (mine were pulled from packs in NorCal fwiw)

Time for another break and go prepare lasagna for dinner. But before I break, I am beginning to see it this way:

I'd stop for lasagna too....

It's looking like this will be the order of variations:
[a] - VAR: "© 1988 LEAF, INC." and "* Denotes Led League" on back - (dot, 1 *)
[b] - VAR: "© 1988 LEAF, INC." and "* Denotes * Led League" on back - (dot, 2 *)
[c] - VAR: "© 1988 LEAF, INC" and "* Denotes Led League" on back - (no dot, 1 *)
[d] - VAR: "© 1988 LEAF, INC" and "* Denotes * Led League" on back - (no dot, 2 *)
So far, we have an [a] version verified for every card in the set (that qualifies for the VAR).
There are 36 cards (of the 660) that do not have VARs:
- Cards 1 - 27 - Diamond Kings (and DK checklist)
- Cards 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, & 600 - Checklists
- Card 588 - Spahn Puzzle card
- Cards 643 & 648 - Canseco & Hershiser Highlight cards
The remaining 624 potentially have the 4 versions.

I'm assuming that these were printed in sheets of 132 (I suppose it could be 110 also). You could theoretically have 132, 264, etc. without one of the versions, although probably less by however many cards on the sheet are DK, CL, etc. At the time i post this, we have only verified 281 of the "no period 2*" variety. There may be a sheet or 2 there were never printed this way.
Just a thought.
