This is a Ken Griffey 1989 RC or XRC ??

Looking through the 1989 update/traded sets I see a lot of XRCs have been added to players who already have an RC in a major release that same year. ------------------------------- *Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.*

I appreciate the clarification and I know this comes down to how Beckett attempted to capture the capricious behavior of collectors more than anything. Regardless, it'll never not be frustrating to me that 1989 Topps Traded baseball and football are treated differently, or for that matter 1989 Topps Traded football vs. 1989 Score Supplemental, or the special XRC treatment afforded to 1984-85 USFL that was never extended to any CFL or WLAF product. Again, tilting at windmills; won't waste anyone's time further. Thanks.

XRC should only be used in the instance where the player appears in one of these factory-set only releases and didn't have a major release before that. If you look, you'll notice that the 1982 Topps Traded Ripken does NOT have XRC since he had RCs in 1982 Donruss, Fleer, and a shared Topps card. Griffey appears in Bowman, Donruss, Fleer, & UD in their base sets in 1989 - his RCs. Score and Topps both missed the boat and included him in their traded sets - only avalable as factory sets - no RC, no XRC.

Most of the XRC usage on this site is confusing, especially anything after 2000 ------------------------------- * Ed * L8 * Cards in my personal Collection are unavailable *
