I don't know if I need to be a premium member to add variations, but one of the administrators emailed me to add photos here. I am going by a list I had from a while ago, maybe from Beckett that had more 1990 Fleer errors/variations than what is currently in the database.
This Mark McGwire card is rare. On the regular card which most people show on Ebay and in your database, there is a black splotch on his pants on the right side. If you look at my submission, I guess the printer removed this mark. There were at least 2 examples on Ebay of this version, one of which I got the images from. Since I still don't have my scanner working, I thought I'd find good images online.

A scan of both so anyone can see the difference. Right hip pocket.

Not a variation, just a printing glitch. Debris got on the printing plate or the platen.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

But it was corrected. Just thought it was noteworthy.

Not to argue about adding. This is just my observation. The card with the mark has the U.S.A. on the lower right on the back. The one without the mark has U.S.A on the back. I also have over 200 different cards with the U.S.A on the back. I am currently just keeping track of those on a printed checklist.

The printing plate was not corrected. There was nothing wrong with the printing plate. The debris either got removed by a worker or more likely, through the normal printing process.
Not very noteworthy. There are literally millions of cards printed with various printing glitches on them.

It almost looks like the "finger" found on many of the 1981 Fleer Baseball cards. I am not sure about the entire story, might have been a speck of dust or defect on the printing roller, but a bunch of cards from that set had what looked like a hand with a finger pointing. On the backs of some cards the "finger" can be found in the bottom right corner, and on the front in the bottom left corner (like the one in the photo above, but not as high up on the card). They eventually fixed the isssue, but not before thousands of cards had been packed. So for that set there is a variation of certain cards, those with and without the "finger".
As for being rare, I don't think any cards from this era (late '80s - early '90s) should be classified as rare as they all were massively overproduced.

I think the U.S.A. and U.S.A should be differentiated as variations. Sort of like the 1988-1992? Donruss cards with Leaf, Inc. and Leaf, Inc (no dot) are listed here.

And this will be done if someone takes up leading the project to identify all the VARs.

So far I've found about 20 variants, but have a couple of thousand cards to go through. Would you happen to know if the stickers have the no period variant also? So far all that I've seen have U.S.A.
