As I am entering my PC I noticed that the press plates are SN4. Should they be separated by color and SN1
i thought about submitting an IR but wanted to asked before I did that

I would submit one. I would ask for the 4 versions to be created. I would put a reminder in the IR, that there is no serial number on the back of the plates.
Once they are created, the images need to be moved to the right set, with the sample image being deleted and then the set itself.

Actually, easier is to adjust the notes in the set that exists and call it whichever set the sample belongs in. Create the other three, move any images and collections to the proper set (if they don't belong there).

Dan,
In this case because there are no serial numbers on the back of the plates, it would be easier to just delete the set after moving the image to the correct colour and removing the sample image.

Ok I will submit an IR. I have the Cliff Floyd yellow and if I remember correctly it is SN1/1 on the back of the card. Now I have about 100 press plates and I could be confusing that 1 with another one I will be sure to check when I get home after finishing my trade offers

Kevin, if you're thinking the difficulty is the Notes is a barrier here, there's actually a tool we can use. Depending on your level, you may not have access to it (I honestly don't remember what permissions level is needed). Because of the potential for a mess if a mistake is made with it, it may be a L7 or L8 function.
For insert and parallel sets, you can edit the Notes for the entire set (or a range of cards in the set) and do essentially a "find and replace". In this case, using that tool, we tell it to find "SN4" and replace it with "SN1" - or, actually, since there's no SN, it would be "PR1".
This does NOT work on major release base sets - only inserts, parallels, and maybe some other releases (minor league sets, possibly? I can't say for certain because I don't recall ever needing that function on a set like that). So, if this were a major release set, then yeah, it would definitely be easier to blow the whole thing away and re-upload. But with the tools we have, that isn't necessary.
If there's another reason you think it would be beneficial to remove and re-upload, I'm all ears, because it wouldn't be the first time I overlooked something. But from an efficiency standpoint, I would agree with Dan here.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Jason,
It's got nothing to do with that. My suggestion, that Dan was upset with, has to do with the fact that we don't know exactly were the want list information goes.

Want list stays on the original set. Wants will move with any images that have collection (as in the person has the plate) info, otherwise it doesn't move. The hardcore collectors who add everything to their want lists will see the new sets soon enough and add them. It's not a big deal and sets should be deleted only as a last resort (this is per Admin, for various reasons we can discuss offline).

Dan,
Thanks for the update. I now agree that not deleting the original set and just renaming it is the way to go.
Remember, there are no serial or PR numbers on the back of the plates.

I just looked at the set that was there and took care of this. There were 2 Black plates with images (sample image was a Black) and 1 Yellow. I renamed the existing set "Black" and changed the Note to "PR1" (thanks for the heads up on that, I looked at the images and conformed what you said there). I added the Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow sets and checklists, then put in an IR to move the images ONLY for the Yellow plate. I looked at the collection info, and it was 4 people with it on their want lists. No collection data was disturbed.
(PS: I wasn't upset with your suggestion or proposed method, I wanted you to know there was a better, and easier, method available.)
Edit to add: I also put in the request to remove the current Release Notes on the Black set.
