I was wondering what everyone thought on this card. I have a card that is identical to the one shown here except for one thing. The difference is that my 50th Anniversary stamp is in the bottom right and the one shown in the scan has the stamp in the bottom left. Other than that, they appear to be identical. When I checked the player collection, this was the only card that fit the card number. Were the stamps just randomly placed or is this a different version of some kind? Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Cards 482 and 491 have the stamps on the right side for the scans that have been uploaded. So it is possible that the stamps vary in location. Most of the ones I've seen that don't have the stamp in the bottom left are multi-player cards though. I would say this is just that same card with the stamp in the opposite location, but there might be something else to it. These couldn't have been sheet stamped since they are buybacks. Most stamps in other locations are to keep the stamp from being on someone's face or to put it in a "blank" area of a photo. Maybe your copy got put in the wrong pile for stamping.

It is a variation but not one that will be cataloged on TCDB. I have a few stamped buyback cards that differ in stamp location or size of the stamp.

Not a variation. Like spaz said, they're individual cards not sheets. They really don't take much care where the cards get stamped.

Great. Thank you all for this info. I was unsure of how Topps did their buybacks, but figured the stamping was just in a different place. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't some form of unlisted variation that I should add.

Don't give Topps any ideas about creating more Buyback parallels; "Buyback Silver Lower Right Corner Stamp", "Buyback Silver Lower Left Corner Stamp", "Buyback Silver Upper Right Corner Stamp", "Buyback Silver Upper Left Corner Stamp", "Buyback Gold Lower Right Corner Stamp", "Buyback Gold Lower Left Corner Stamp", "Buyback Gold Upper Right Corner Stamp", "Buyback Gold Upper Left Corner Stamp", etc, etc, etc...

LOL. Very true. They tend to already produce a lot of variations. They sure don't need to add more. At least they aren't like Panini Prizm basketball yet.

No, but they continue to ruin very good vintage cards. It's a crime against the collecting community.

I'm not exactly a fan of buybacks either.
