Fine fellow TCDB users,
I have an opinion question, and maybe the Admin can also weigh in on this one. If a checklist is divided into teams, should we tag all the teams on the card?
www.tradingcarddb.com/Images/Cards/Baseball/216/216-298Fr.jpg
See this card as a perfect example. This particular one is tagged for the team on the player pictured (which I'm perfectly cool with). In my little world of team collecting, the team checklists are part of my collection. In the 1970s, it was easy, one team, one card. Then in 1981, Fleer introduced us to 2 teams, one card (and I have gone in and tagged both teams, mainly so my team's cards would show up in my checklists). I do believe in some cases for Fleer, they did 4 teams per checklist. Here, in Ultra, it is more like 8-9 teams per checklist.
In a related note, Topps did something similar, except they had some teams start on one card and continue on the next (1990, 1991, & 1992, I know for sure - because I have them).
So, Team Tag, or not to Team Tag? That is the question.
Thanks,
Dan

I think it depends on the preference of the person adding the card. I personally don't tag checklists for that reason, but I don't see harm in adding all the teams on the card and/or the team of the player depicted on the background of the card. I don't think they really make too many checklists nowadays do they?

From what I have seen, most checklists that list the cards by team and not in numerical order are tagged that way. I see it in trades with Team Collectors asking for the checklist with their team on it. Personally, I would not collect it as a Team card but to each his own preference so having them tagged is probably best for the collecting community.
As for those with a player in the background (Fleer Flair and Fleer Ultra come to mind) yes they should be tagged with the player(s) depicted. This is no different than the 1993 Donruss CL that have an action picture in one of the corners where we tag the players identified in the picture.

This was going to be my response (mostly). I'm one of those Team collectors who want those checklosts (because they help me know which cards I want to see in my binder, so I'm one of those crazies - lol).
I would also add that card #300 (as of this moment), is tagged correctly for both Name and Teams.

I think the ask was whether a player that shows up on the checklist should have a tag. Not the background, but just listed on the checklist itself. So a checklist of, say 1-200, would have 200 individual tags. I already know the answer.... but I think that may be the question asked here.

My original question was not that. I don't know if that was where Steven was going with his or not, but he specifically mentioned Ryan and card #300, on which he is the photo.
But, to go further down that path, and to answer the question of "Should every player listed, by name only, on a checklist be tagged?", the official site answer from Admin on that is "No".

Something to keep in mind with the checklists grouped by teams, although we try to include all of them, there are some instances where there may be database character limits, or it may not be practical to include every team. For example, an "Update" set checklist where all 26-32 teams have a few cards.
