Ah, interesting tidbit on the Hill/Detroit guys.

When you look at the two Blaylock scans (card 2) there does appear to be a distinct silver foil to the name on one and a darker foil on the other.

However, when comparing the Dino Raja (11), there is a colour difference but the two scans have differing brightness/contrast in general. It is hard to tell if the card scanned as a silver parallel actually has a more silver foil or if it is just because the scan is "lighter" in general.

I only have about 70 cards in the set and I think a bunch are series two. Will pull out what I have when I get home and see if I can see any foil variations in the series one cards.

So I had a look at the cards I have and almost all initially look to have silver names and some are questionable between the two colours. When I pick some up and tilt in to different lights I can see gold but others appear to stay silver.

Interestingly, the Olajuwon looks 100% silver and stays that way even when tilted.

In short, at least to my poor eyes, there are definitely cards with silver names, there could be gold names if I squint/tilt enough. But, there is definitely a silver named Olajuwon.

Hey all, this has been very frustrating for me as well. I'm very OCD and can't stand the inconsistencies on these so called "silver" cards. Some are very distinguishable that they are silver but some look gold while others are bronze. How do we really know what we have?? Does anyone have a package that shows what Hoops listed as an insert? Is there really a silver set that only has 98 cards and skips a lot? Almost all of series 2 is silver, why aren't they considered part of that set? So many questions and no answers to be found!

Unfortunately I didn't start saving my packaging until 1999. But I've never seen a silver from series 2. I've seen a lot where the foil has hazed over but it usually has fingerprints on it.

@scassidy23 as above I see the same as you with my cards from this series. Just a mix of maybe, could be, I don't knows. Interestingly, I did find the corner colour next to the name seemed to really influence what colour I thought the writing was. I remember the Orlando cards for example all looking very distinctly silver. More so than most others. Coincidence? I don't know.

Luckily for me I am the opposite to you and could not care less whether they are gold or silver and have just listed all mine as base.

Guess I need to remember that if anyone ever wants to trade for one.

I have what appears to be a base and Silver Shawn Bradley, interesting thing is, Shawn Bradley, #97, is not listed on the Silver checklist.
