I have two comments about this set.

Card AD1 is listed on Beckett as an advertising panel with no number printed on the front or back. (They have an image) Beckett also considers it to be card #AD1 but it seems like a NNO to me. Should we adjust this?

Is the checklist considered the 121st card of the base set or an insert card? If it is considered the 121st card, then we should list it with the other 120 cards like the checklists in 1981 and 1982 Donruss baseball. If it is considered an insert card, then we should change the set size to 120.

No, the Checklist is not part of the base set. Otherwise it would be listed on the checklist card.  Don't know why the 1981 and 1982 Donruss checklists are part of the base set.

Before anyone changes the Donruss checklists, I think the feeling is that they were produced in the same quantities as the other base cards but did not get numbered by Donruss. In this 1956 football set, it seems that it was more difficult to get, kind of like a modern day insert card. In fact, the "SP" note should probably be removed if it is considered an insert card. The problem is that Beckett considers it part of the base set. Hopefully we are allowed to disagree with Beckett.

I don't know if this helps or not, but here goes. So I read that the checklists were printed on sheets with those Football contest cards, not with or on the regular set sheets. Topps used the contest cards as a way to see where their cards sold well or not so much. On each contest card you will find at least one team from the East Coast, West Coast and the Midwest. People would predict the final score of the games listed on the cards then enter the contest. Topps collected the data (names, addresses etc.) from the cards returned to them. The checklist and contest cards were inserted (pushed) into packs ... so inserted and not part of the actual set.
