1990 Topps Football Forum

I came across this card yesterday and saw that it has a C* and apartial D* on the back. I also have a clean card with just the C* on the back. Should this card be considered a VARIATION and are there more like it?

There are a handful of 1990 Topps FB record breaker players: Flipper, Aikman and Montana, who can be found with C*, D*, C*D* and/or partially airbrushed D* on back. The airbrushing/correcting is the same, not a print flaw. For example, you may find an Aikman with C* and partially removed D* and it may have one or more distinct types of airbrushing over the D*. I have build three master sets of this and they are, in fact, variations created by a change to the plate.

Whether anyone finds them interesting enough to bother with is another thing entirely.
