Wondering how the cards in this insert set should be named?
My gut says that they are right; they should be named the collection, and then linked to the names (I just finished linking them). But in the process I did change the Quarterbacks Club back to it, instead of all six names, and I'm wondering if I made the right decision. Input is appreciated. Thanks in advance

The players names are on the cards (panel) and should be used in the Name field. "The (various) Collection" should be in Note2. I did the first one for you.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I'm not sure I agree. I know the names are listed on the front, but "The Quarterbacks Collection" is also listed on the front. Its even next to the panel number. Since you can link the players to the cards already, I think it should be listed as The Quarterbacks Collection.

To quote Admin, "If the player's name does not appear explicitly on the front of the card, then the use the description on the card." Since the player's names explicitly appear on the front we should use them in the name field.

jupiterhill echoed my thoughts, but what Admin says, goes. If not already done I will fix the set this evening when I get home. Thanks for the input.

When I had asked Admin about cards like this in the past, the answer was to format them as such:
1 - The QB Club (Player 1 / Player 2 / Player 3 / ... / Last Player) - Team 1 / Team 2 / etc.

While I reiterate my point I stated above (Admin's site - what they say goes) I also want to throw an opinion out there.
I really don't like that format.
Seems to me that by doing so, we are putting information in the "name" field (which is for the name of the card, generally player names) that should be in the "notes" field (QB Club, League Leaders, etc).
If that's the format that we want, then shouldn't this card be named as "AL Leaders (Ordonez / Ichiro / Polanco)"? In my opinion (which, ultimately, doesn't mean much, I know) the name of that card should be "Magglio Ordonez / Ichiro / Placido Polanco" with a note "LL" and Note2 of "AL Batting Average Leaders".
My understanding is that the "name" field should say what appears in the de facto name field on the front of the card; in each case discussed here, the player's names. Am I completely confused and off base? If anyone else is unsure as well, please speak up so perhaps we can all come to a conclusion. If not, then someone just gently chastise and chase me in the right direction

The card you reference should be (according to what Admin told me a couple years back):
Number: 15
Name: AL League Leaders - Batting Average (Magglio Ordonez / Ichiro / Placido Polanco)
Team: Detroit Tigers / Seattle Mariners
Note: LL
Note2: [blank]
Remember, name refers to the name of the card, not the players on it. And Admin also noted that technically, the names of the players don't have to be in the Name field, they just need to be linked. Adding them to the name field just helps when members print out checklists and the names appear there.

Additionally, from the FAQ (emphasis on Example 2):
How do I link multiple names to a single card?
Names should only be linked to a card if they are the focal point or subject of the card. Background players or characters should never be linked.
Example 1 (based on display name):
- Edit the name of the card, putting slashes between each name that needs to be linked (ex: Michael Jordan / Scottie Pippen / Horace Grant) and submit.
- Beneath the card images, click "edit name links".
- Click the "Create Links" button.
- Check below to see that all names were linked properly and make adjustments if necessary.
The "Create Links" button will link up to 8 different names separated by slashes. If more than 8 links are required, the "Add Link(s)" area can be used. Additional names can be added using that text box, either individually, or multiples separated by slashes (up to 8 at a time).
Example 2 (independent of display name):
In this example, we will assume that the card has a description that doesn't name individual people, for example, "The Bure Brothers" or "The Early Years". You could rename the card and include the names that need to be linked, like "The Bure Brothers (Pavel Bure / Valeri Bure), "The Early Years (Lou Gehrig / Babe Ruth)" and use the method described above in Example 1, but for the sake of this example, we will assume that you don't want to do this.
- Beneath the card images, click "edit name links".
- In the "Add Link(s)" field enter the names that need to be linked, either singly or separated by slashes as in Example 1 and submit.
- Check below to see that all names were linked properly and make adjustments if necessary.

i always agreed with that.. in this example the QB Club in my opinion should be in the note field and the player names in the name field--- BUT ---- i fully understand where admin and the example V provided is needed as well. And if its linked properly, it will take you there anyway.
Besides if you look at some of the 70's and 80's Fleer Action sets, there are no particular player names directly associated with the card. For example, the card name could be "4th and Goal" and the picture display two teams lined up on the goal line- and searching for the team players (if you make them out because it could be a distance picture), you won't know who to link it too.
