1978 Hostess Baseball Forum

I know I have seen some discussion about the Hostess brown back variations. Has anything been done regarding the 1978's?

this kind of discussion fascinates me

What have you seen about 1978? I fixed the 1975-77 Hostess and Twinkies releases then took a break from them. Doing a quick search, I don't really see anything about brown ink variations for this or 1979 other than possible print testing.

I have panel #52,53,54 and saw a #103,104,105 on ebay (called an error of course). Other than that have not done any research. I spent over a year researching the "L" shaped panels to create those CL's. 

  Seeing as these may only affect a portion of the set (regional issue) is the proper way to add them as variations rather than a partial parallel set?

I notice that the fronts of these "brown back" cards are much lighter than the regular black back ones - could it simply have been an inking/printing issue? Here is a link to one on comc that has both side by side:

Agree. Brown is not one of the inks used in printing. They look more like a missed inking step or inking levels.
