Question - is a re-issue of a card (years apart) with an updated photo & bio and a new number technically a VAR?

If it has a new number then it should be treated as an entirely different card, not a variation of an earlier card featuring the same player.

IMHO, it is a new card. It just reuses an old picture as Topps / OPC often did in the late 70's and early 80's.

New number = new card, not a VAR.

I'll take Dan at his word. I am going to remove the VAR from the cards in question, but I will be adding scans and notes once I have obtained all (as many as I can that is) of the cards. I'm updating the checklist too as I find more of the older NNO ones.

Found out more info on this set - the first cards were issued in 1995 for the induction ceremony held that year (which was the 1st time the induction ceremony was held in St. Mary's at the CBHoF). The company that printed the cards at that time for the CBHoF did not include numbers or dates on the cards - this company continued to print the cards for the CBHoF until 2002, when Canadian Baseball News took over the printing (although both companies printed cards in 2002).

Question: should this set be renamed to include 1995-2021 or should a different set be created for the 1995-2002 cards printed by the original printer? All of the NNO cards in the current set would have to be moved to the new set (except for Jeff Francis). I have also found evidence of 10 more NNO cards that will need to be added as well as a ton of AU's. So far, the only differentiation I can see on the NNO cards from year to year is the color of the border on the front.

Any input would be appreciated.

Have some new info on this set - I just confirmed that cards have been printed for the 4 new 2023 inductees along with reprints of 32 previous cards. The reprints have all been made with no numbers (and likely the 4 new ones as well). It seems that they have opted to not number the cards any longer (it started last year with Jeff Francis). I am ordering all of them and will submit IR's for the new ones once I have them in hand.

Should the reprints be added as new cards or as variations of the originals? Either way, I think a Note 2 stating "2023 reprint of xxx/xx" would be appropriate.

Thanks for working on this set. I have a few and had at one time targeted all that I could find which was not many either available for trade via TCDB members or on sale.

One thing I had questioned was the inclusion of AUs as part of the base set. I see that they are now treated as an insert, so that was a great call if you did that, richarddd2764.

Now if I could only find these to add to my collection.

Note that it will get you one card from each inductee (usually the current printed version). Tracking down the older versions is tricky. I also just confirmed that there were some reprints done in 2022 - I am waiting for the list so I can get all the new ones added.
