before you open the pack bend it top to bottom and side to side. then after you open it pull the cards that have release from the brick and repeat as much as needed you will save a lot more that way

Yikes!
Got a hobby box I'm planning to sell, but would want to alert the buyer to this possibility. Not that there's any potential for a big hit out of this set, but I suspect even sealed, well-cared-for boxes from this era will not have aged well.

I just bought a box of 1997 Topps and pretty much every pack is bricked. I should have known...

And the Gold Rush cards are worse than the base cards.

In the mid to late nineties I assembled a master, mint set of all the Gold Rush cards as well all of the Insert Sets from both the 1994 Score Baseball and the 1994 Score Rookie & Traded series. For me, the Boys of Summer insert set was by far the biggest challenge to complete, but I got there eventually. To prevent the UV coating from sticking, I placed all the cards in protective soft sleeves, and to this day they remain in their original condition. If untold numbers of cards from this series were ruined by bricking, then a complete mint set or near mint set would be a real challenge to complete nowadays.

In case anyone is wondering, these cards may stick to penny sleeves as well if they are stored too tight. Granted it won't damage the card by pulling the sleeve off, you could accidentally damage the card when doing so.

Just to add on. Picked up a cheap hobby box of this a few months ago and every pack was super bricked. Tried the freezer method, the heat method, slightly bending them but every single card had paper loss and the Gold Rush cards were destroyed. Ended up just tossing the entire box after opening 10 packs or so. Its a shame.

If anyone needs a set, I have an extra one sitting in my closet completely unbricked. This I will admit, the second series has some slight side browning....
