Would it be proper to have the 'Race to...' insert sets linked to both players appearing on the card?

Not that I collect football but as a precedence, https://www.tcdb.com/Notes.cfm/sid/194/1992-Pinnacle?Note=IDOL. Though not identical in card "idea" very similar in card display. And the Football cards actually have the name of the second individual on the front, more so than the baseball one.

I will say no.  The cards should be only linked to the player that is the focus of the card.  I have pasted an example below.  In the axample below Brett Favre is the only name stated in the bio field on the back.  Marino's name is only listed in the stat line.  Besides Brett Favre's team is listed in the bio field.  The cards are correctly linked as they are.

Whichever way this goes, we have similar sets in 1998 and 1999 Gold Label baseball that will need to be handled whichever way these are (and they are currently not consistent).
