Hey crew, I am updating my Ranfords again this weekend and every set that he is in I try my best to fix it so it is as accurate as possible. The Autographs insert set is listed on here as one set of 126 cards yet the ITG website lists them in five seperate groups under the main heading. They are : First Round Picks, Future Stars, Greats of the Game, Stars of the Game and Team Canada. It appears that the sub heading is on each card as my Ranford has the Greats of the Game on the card front. They have been listed in the sub group order as one set. Should I leave it as is or add the subgroup heading under note 2? There are also cards listed as (sp) on the ITG website which it states is a "sports print" which I hope is a typo and actually means short print. If any of you had a couple minutes to check out this checklist online and give me some pointers I would be really thankful.

Next question, I have been down this road before but will go down it again. In the past I have asked about the gold and silver and sometimes auto versions of ITG sets and most replied as it is generally known that each version is a SP of a certain amount. But the problem with this set (and most likely others) is that it is NOT the same throughout the entire run. There are several different print runs for gold and auto versions. If anyone does look this over for me just look at the info link for insert numbers on the set and you will undestand what I mean. I do believe that this info should somehow be listed with the checklist so that the person knows right off the bat how difficult it is to get the said card. I know that is stuff I want and need to know and if I have to start adding stuff long hand somewhere it makes listing it here simply stated ... incomplete.

I would add the following to the appropriate card's Note 1:
"FRP" for First Round Picks, "FS" for Future Stars, "GG" for Greats of the Game, "SG" for Stars of the Game and "TC" for Team Canada. And then add the definitions in the Glossary.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I have looked through the glossary and am trying to come up with some suitable way to propose a Note or Note 2 addition .... would PR1, PR10, PR50, etc work having PR stand for Print Run. How about 1of1, 1of10, 1of50, and so on? I can not find anything so am trying to figure something out. Any help would be great.

I look at some of their other year's checklists for the Autograph insert sets and they define "SP" as "short print".

In my opinion, I wouldn't bother with Print Run information. Unlike Serial Numbered (SN) cards, which have the info printed on the card.

Thanks for the info Cigars! I appreciate it, as I painfully sift through this set, I have found an insert set that someone has worked on, the Roy VS Broduer set and it is interesting to say the least, what he has and ITG have is completely out of line so who do I follow? Ugh. Anyways he has listed the print run on them where applicable by simply having the number 10 in the note field. Now that I look at 10 in the glossary I do see several descriptions that work. I still feel obligated to add this info as obviously everyone has a differnt opinion. It all goes back to discussions in the past that the Glossary needs to be cleaned up and having it a more ridgid framework for it.

Just me again, feeling just a bit frazzled, just another entry into all this, now I know this is a place trying to be its own idenity and the such but I do see other sites that use the print run in the listings. I do believe it is a source of data that is needed and could be part of an update that includes all sorts of info. I have asked in the past for the card information to include dimensions and such, if we need to add that info when entering a set why doesnt it show up when you see it on the site. For me personally, print run is a very valuable peice of information any collector needs who is focusing on an individual rather than those amassing the biggest wholesale lot that they can. I am using this site for different purposes than others and enjoy the fact that we all do this for different reasons, I'm just stressing that the more detail we have for these sets the better this place can become. On that note I am stepping back from this set for a bit before I take a baseball bat to my computer monitor!! =( lol

How about in the set comments, adding "Team Canada SP 1:36, Prospects SP 1:1,000", etc.? (I made up those odds obviously, so use the correct numbers). The kind of info that would be in the small print on a wrapper. Would that solve the problem of a single set with cards issued at different rates?

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I'm back!! Took a breather and tried to work on a different set ...... bad move!! It was absolutely no better!! The way some of these checklists get put on here is mindboggling at best!! Thanks for the tip switzr!! I have sent a message off to admin to have him look the set over and will wait for them to advise, maybe they have some good tips. It just seems that there are not alot of hockey people on here that can catch all the bad sets like the other sports. I can almost guarantee that NFL and baseball are in much better shape!! I feel that it may die a slow death as did the Kraft sets I attempted to alter. Gave up on them for now as well, just to difficult to do on my own. At least I can keep scanning in my Ranfords!! lol
