1964 Topps Baseball Forum

Hi folks................Anyone have any information about this apparent variation?  I know there are "A" and "B" versions of this card due to the messed up numbering on the back that was corrected.  However, I see multiple copies of this card that has the "7th Series" runnng through the border line vs. below the border line on the front.

I don't see this as a miscut/off center issue.  I can't find anything about this!?

That looks like a variation since they even opened up the black border to write "7th Series" in the opening.

The version with correct numbering has the open line. The error card (starting with #565 on back) has the 7th Series header within the green box. It's also an easy way to tell the difference without flipping the card over.

Thanks Mike,,,,,that makes sense....I can't find any "open line/wrong back".  But what has/had me fooled are the photos posted right here on this site!  Check out the "corrected" version, and the front is not "open line"!?!   Apparently it's really the front of the error card used for both variations.  Ooops...that sent me on a wild goose chase!!

After seeing who added the images, one wonders if either one is the ACTUAL omage. Anyway, whichever one is wrong, please submit an inaccuracy report on it to have the wrong image removed.
