I was updating my 1972 Topps Baseball and discovered that for Card #18 Juan Pizzaro there are two Variations. One is for Green under the C&S. The other is for Yellow under the C&S. The images for each have either Yellow or Green under the top and bottom of the C&S. As you can see my Card has both with Green at top and Yellow at the Bottom. I have Card #29 which is the same condition. I have not checked beyond those two but will be looking here shortly. Am I correct in thinking this may be a 3rd Variation or did I miss something. My wife accuses me of being color blind sometimes but of course our wedding was originally going to be Corral and ended up being Turquoise so maybe she is just more in depth. What are the thoughts on this?

It's the very bottom curve of the C and S that have the additional Green, not the top curved portion of the letter. What you are seeing is the regular base version coloring that all Cubs cards have. There is no 3rd version.

What I am seeing in the images on the Checklist is VAR A is all yellow top and bottom. VAR B is all Green top and bottom. Originally I had marked me as having VAR A so that seems to be what you are saying. I am fine with it I would just be curious as to why my Card does not match either image on the Checklist. And do I have VAR A?

The card you have pictured here looks just like the VAR a image for the set. You have the VAR a. If it makes a difference, when I first started chasing this set I didn't know where the green was either until I saw both in hand.

Well I definitely have an issue with color blindness. My wife says the same thing but I sure can't see Green in VAR A. I see all Yellow. She did agree that my Card is a deeper shade which made me feel a little better. Thanks for helping me clear this up. I am a Truck Driver for a living. I am glad Red Lights have a clearer difference in Yellow and Green...lol

Glad I go to the eye doctor in January. I originally marked these correct so I guess I could see it then but tonight I was having a hard time seeing Green under the top curve.

The green under the top curve is going to be there in both versions. It's the green under the bottom curve that you need to worry about.

I'm almost there myself, 9 short on the base set and 11 for the master set. I'm hitting up a show next weekend, hopefully I can finish the base set off then. A couple high numbers, Brooks Robinson,Willie Stargell and a few mid-numbers. SOOOO close.....
