1991 Topps Desert Storm Non-Sport Forum

Card 146 lists the USSR (Soviet Union) as an Allied Force in Operation Desert Storm. Im pretty sure they were not on our side. Anyone know why this country was put on the card?

They weren't on Iraq's side either; Iraq fought alone.  USSR condemned Iraq's invasion into Kuwait and lobbied for the UN Resolution, but didn't join the Coalition.  

Maybe Topps thought the USSR would evently provide forces when they were creating the set.

I knew they weren't on either side. I was there saw soldiers from many different countries. Never USSR though. Just wondering if anyone knows why topps did this?
