Shocking results. (Sarcasm)

Somehow I feel that card grading is elitist

WOW! I figured the majority here preferred raw/ungraded cards, but wasn't expecting it to be almost unanimous.

Because, gut feeling here, that those that only go after graded wouldn't be attracted to this site in general.

I didn't vote in this one as I have no clue what either option means.

I feel like the raw side of the hobby and the graded side of the hobby have different objectives. One is to collect, the other is to make money. I have some graded cards, I've gotten some cards graded. But I'd prefer to have a card 'raw.' I can choose how I want to store/display it and it's generally cheaper. The only time I want a graded card is to make sure it's authentic.

If it was a high value card I would want it graded. But 99.95 percent of my stuff is raw

Out of the grand total of 2 graded cards I own, I'm.. maybe 85% certain that one of the two is a fake. That's all you need to know. Don't treat your hobby like you're trading soybean futures and shares of Microsoft and you'll be just fine.

Raw for everyday new cards. Graded/slabbed for vintage rookies

Any graded cards I happen to get (not a lot) are freed from their prison as soon as I get them home.
