Wilt Chamberlain, surprised Wilt didn't get his own bullet.  I would have also listed Kareem, Oscar, Bill Russell and Larry Bird.  A strong case could be made for all of them.

Wilt Chamberlain. Too bad him and Jordan didn't compete against each other. IMO Jordan would of struggled against Wilt, but we'll never know.

I know next to nothing about basketball.  Magic shouldn't be included too (real question)?

I go back and forth between Kareem, Wilt, and Bill Russell. In Wilt’s case, they had to make rule changes to stop him (or at least limit him).

Wilt Chamberlain.  Wonder how many who voted for Jordan ever saw Wilt play.

Larry Bird, Wilt, Magic Dr. J, Pete Maravich. Much of the way the game is played is because of these guys and many more to list.

I do not follow basketball but I'm old enough to have seen a lot of great players over my lifetime.  The years of Bird and Magic was the only time I watch basketball more often.

IMO the G.O.A.T. is just like H.O.F. and MVP or any other awards.   It is all about how you look at it and what you know.    You can make a case for a lot of players.

It is hard to choice just one as the rules and the way the game is played over the years.

I saw Jordan play when my dad's office had Jazz season tickets. Absolutely amazing! Any of these 3 could put up crazy stats at will, but Jordan stood out in his era.

I also grew up watching Bird, Kareem and Magic. Russell and Wilt were a little before my time but are absolute legends. I don't think it's possible to declare one GOAT in any sport because the game play and eras are so different. The ones whose skills towered above anyone else in their era deserve to be considered one of the best in their sport. Think Montana...no one else in the 80s was even in the same time zone.
