Thank You to all that have helped me finish the 75 Topps set!!!

Lifelong Twins and Killebrew fan.

I started collecting as a kid in 1971. Walking up to the milk store about 10 blocks away, plopping down my 10 cents for a wax pack and 5 cents for a bubs Daddy. First card I remember seeing in a wax pack was Tom Tiimmerman - still have the card in my collection.

I really got hooked in 1972 when I saw a rack pack with the Roberto Clemente in Target. In 1975 My aunt bought my brother and me a complete set of Topps cards which took what seemed forever to arrive. I got the Dodgers cards, my brother got the Reds cards (we had to hate something about each other) and I think we divided up the rest.

Started collecting for complete sets in 1976-1979. Stopped in 1980 cuz it wasn't cool as a HS Senior.

Then back chasing the complete set dragon in 1981 and enjoyed the dawn of the junk wax era. Limiting my PC to 1980 and older. No new stuff.

Completed sets: 1968-1987

Listing a lot of my 1960s and 70s dupes on my eBay page to fund my quest for 1954-67 set builds.

Trading: I try to propose or trade similar value cards, PWE if it works.

if conditions aren’t listed, assume my cards are VG, VGEX or EX.

Looking to obtain VG-EX cards for my sets, with no major creases, paper loss or marks on the front. O/C is fine.

I have tons of mid to late 70s cards I haven’t listed here so if you need them, let me know.

looking forward to doing some trades toward completing my sets!

Detroit Tigers, HOF's, Topps sets

Was a Junk Wax era kid who has gotten back into the hobby in the summer of '22.

Current Focus is Topps set and insert set building. Working backwards from 2021 and forward from 1991:

'93 Topps = 15% = This will be my winter project

'22 Topps '87 Inserts (Series 1, Series 2, Update and Chrome):

  • Series 1 = 100% complete!
  • Series 2 = 100% complete!
  • All Stars = 100% complete!
  • Series 1 Chrome MOJO = 12%
  • Series 2 Chrome MOJO = 10%
  • Chrome = 100% complete!
  • Update = 86% = 7 to go
  • Update Chrome MOJO = 10.7%

'23 Topps '88 inserts (Series 1, Series 2, Update and Chrome):

  • Series 1 = 48%
  • Series 2 = 12%
  • All Stars = 14%%
  • Series 1 Chrome MOJO = 9%
  • Series 2 Chrome MOJO = 0%
  • Chrome
  • Update
  • Update Chrome MOJO

Although this is where I'm focused at the moment, I'm still open for any trade proposals.

I enjoy proposing/accepting trades of all sizes, bring 'em on! With that said, I will leave a proposal up for 48 hours and if there is no traction on the trade, I'll withdraw it. No hard feelings, it just helps me keep track of trades better this way.

I'm fine with trading different eras or sports as long as both sides are happy with it. I do prefer to trade modern #'d cards for #'d cards, parallels for parallels, inserts for inserts, ect, but again, as long as both sides are happy with the offers then I'm flexible.

I take pride in packaging to ensure that your cards reach you in top condition.

PC Detroit Tigers = Kaline, Cash, Horton, Lolich, Trammell, Whitaker, Morris, C. Fielder (DET only), Cabrera (DET only), Verlander (DET only), Mize, Skubal, Manning, Torkelson, Greene and K. Carpenter

Non Detroit Tigers PC = HOF's

Shipping to U.S. only

I will consider all buy, sell or trade proposals...no reasonable offers refused...if I really want the card, I'll try to make something work.

I do Paypal or e-transfer for buy and sell.

I usually mail out Friday or Saturday.

I have slowed down a bit on trading because my real job has me swamped and my ebay store is taking up a lot of my extra time. I am willing to trade but it may take me a day or two to get things pulled together.

I love trading. With that said, I don't like trading on uneven terms. If you want an autographed rookie patch of your favorite player from my collection, it's going to take more than 50 1987 Topps common cards. Like a lot more. As a matter of fact, even if you added every common card on my wantlist to the transaction for one rookie patch auto, I would hesitate. I value common cards as set builders, not collection pieces so if you look at the trade you've proposed from my angle and you wouldn't agree to it, then don't propose it.

I like to trade like for like, although I have no problem crossing sports or years (within reason --- a common from 1949 Bowman does not equal a common from 1992 Donruss). So if you want a Brett Favre rookie card from 1990, I would not have much trouble trading that for a 2017 Topps Alex Bregman.

My order of appreciation is as follows:

1) My favorite players - Alex Bregman, Robin Roberts (pitcher), Tyrann Mathieu and Joe Burrow. Any one of these is almost an automatic lock in any trade.

2) Baseball - This is my sport. This is my passion. Baseball cards will always be given top priority for trades. I am collecting sets from my birth year to present and I'm placing a priority on 1975 right now. Anything you have on my wantlist is of course desired but it sweetens the pot considerably if it is from the late 70s.

3) Football - I still like collecting/buying football cards but I have no real desire to collect sets any more. I will trade for the cards in sets that I've almost completed or cards of my favorite players listed above but other than that, I don't really care all that much. I sometimes watch college football but usually only if LSU Tigers are playing and on Sunday, I just find other things to do. The NFL has gotten old and boring for me.

4) Basketball - I don't care about the NBA at all. If the Houston Rockets make it to the playoffs, I'll root for them. But otherwise, basketball is not even on the radar. College basketball is more fun but I never watch it either. That said, basketball trades, at least those in which I'm the recipient of the basketball cards, hold the least amount of value for me. I think I'm only attempting to collect one set of basketball and I'm not even really sure why. So don't think that by adding a 1989 Hoops Michael Jordan to the pot, it's going to sweeten the deal. It will not.

5) Misc. - I'm not sure what this is but I'm putting it here just in case I find something interesting. Like maybe a Pele card or something. Hell I don't know. It's called covering all the bases.

I hope everyone is doing great!

Cheers!

My profile picture is me with my favorite player Manny Sanguillen in the summer of 2023.

My Collecting History

My first pack of cards was in 1971.  My mom bought me the pack of cards from Bullman's Market in Mt. Chestnut, I remember that.  But I was only 5, so the collecting bug didn't take hold.  It wasn't until I was 11 in the summer of 1977 when I started collecting baseball cards.  I would buy all the 15 cent packs of baseball cards I could with my allowance money and the money I made from my paper route. Later that summer my grandmother had given me a bag full of hundreds of older baseball cards she had collected.  I didn't know many of the players names at the time, but thought they were cool.  Turns out they were mostly 1960 Topps baseball with a bunch of 1959 and 1961 Topps baseball.  In the summer of 1979 my father took me and my friends to a flea market in North Park, I think it was called Wildwood Flea Market.  It was the first time I saw a dealer that sold baseball cards.  I remember buying a Mint condition 1960 Yogi Berra for $5.00, I am sure there were others, but the Berra is the one I remember.  (I may add more to this in the future, but that is enough for now.)

What I Collect

Mostly vintage baseball.  Vintage being 1980 and before.  After 1980 just cards that I really like or have a special meaning to me.  My favorite sets are 1954, 1956 and 1960 Topps Baseball, also 1949 and 1953 Bowman Baseball.

I collect Topps baseball base sets 1972 to present and Texas Rangers. I also collect different players, but I am sticking to only Topps base cards. I will add non-Topps base cards to my player collections, but I'm not trying to track them all down.

Currently, I collect Ronald Acuna Jr, Ozzie Albies, Tim Anderson, Elvis Andrus, Nolan Arenado, Buddy Bell, Adrian Beltre, Mookie Betts, Jacob deGrom, Rafael Devers, Adolis Garcia, Paul Goldschmidt, Juan Gonzalez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Ron Guidry, Bryce Harper, Clayton Kershaw, Shohei Ohtani, Ivan Rodriguez, Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis Jr, Mike Trout, Kyle Tucker, Bobby Witt Jr. and Michael Young.

I'm open to trades, but want to keep my trading within the U.S. for now.

Working on the Topps baseball run from 53 to present.  Newfound love for 90s basketball cards  Lots of duplicates for trades.  Set builder.  Rod Carew fan and collector.  Was a hoarder then found out those Hostess cards I saved all those years are worth a few bucks.  Collection sat in tubs for 40 years and several moves and now getting serious again since I've retired.

Update:  Due to the high cost of mailing international packages, I will no longer accept trade offers outside of the US and Canada.

Vintage Baseball Cards Pre-1980

Primarily I only collect vintage Topps Baseball and not interested in anything else.  I am a set builder and have been collecting cards for 50 years. I only dabble in football and other sports if they are vintage and major, major, stars or non-sport cards.

I would prefer to make trades where the cost/value of the cards is greater than the cost for postage.

I have many cards for trade that are not listed in the system, message me  to get things rolling if you want to trade.  Also, I’m happy to sell anything on my trade list. I accept Paypal or Venmo.

All trades require photos of the cards being traded.  For fastest response send pics of all cards included in your offer to Downtowntodd@gmail.com for approval.  No offers will be accepted without photos.  Please include the condition of the cards you are trying to find in your offer.
