There are 17 species of "grosbeaks" The six most common are the Mexican yellow grosbeak, Southern yellow grosbeak, Black-thighed grosbeak, Black-backed grosbeak, Rose-breasted grosbeak, and Black-headed grosbeak.

The Rose-breasted grosbeak is often mistakenly called a Red-breasted grosbeak because of the bright red pattern on it's breast.
