- Compared to 1987 Fleer, production was dramatically increased, thereby depressing the long-run value of this set.
- Although players are sorted alphabetically by last name within each team, #90 Eddie Milner is listed before #91 Bob Melvin within the Giants group. Checklist #654 (both ERR and COR) lists Melvin as #90 and "Ed" Milner as #91.
- Card 635 AL Shortstops is same pose as Score 1988 651 Super Shortstops.

1988 Fleer consists of 660 cards. Card fronts feature a distinctive white background with red and blue diagonal stripes across the card. As in years past cards are organized numerically by teams and team order is based upon the previous season's record. Subsets include Super Star Specials (622-640), Rookies (641-653), and checklists (654-660).

I think it is one of Fleer's brightest moments. I love this design. It's probably my favorite of their regular run. They wasted most of their best designs on box sets. | ||
Very boring. Not one of Fleer's finest efforts. | ||
