Year: 1992

Set: Baseball Cards Magazine '70 Topps Replicas (Rate)

Card: #32 Don Mattingly

“ The back is awesome, from the comic to the "Investment advice." 80s and 90s Mattingly cards were going for $80??? I like Donny Baseball, even as I am a Tigers fan, but wow! ” -rmpaq5

“ My favorite player all time on a cool looking card. I like it. ” -muskie027

“ A++++ ” -trauty

“ Nice design to replicate. An all-time fave of mine. Back is a bit odd since it left out the yellow backgrounds ” -captkirk42

“ Back when using retro designs was a novelty ” -Splinter_9

“ I like it. It's a nice looking card, to me. I didn't realize they were doing throwback cards as early as 1992. ” -davidhandberry

“ Donnie baseball. One of the few Yankees i didn't hate growing up. ” -Parsons0311

“ Great looking..... Hair. Not a good replica of the 70 set. ” -parsley24

“ I wonder what the Investment Advisor had to say about Gregg Jeffries cards. ” -DanD

“ Beckett was the premier baseball card magazine back then, but I always loved the underdog Baseball Cards Magazine. The replica cards they always included really opened my very young eyes to a whole world of designs I had never seen, and really sparked my interest in vintage cards, even if it took until the past few years for me to get any lol. This isn't the best example of their work then, but you can see how it inspired things like Topps Heritage. ” -AtarianX

“ Topps Archive before Topps Archive was a thing! Unintentional I’d imagine, but being at Shea is a nice touch, considering how frequent Shea was used by The Man From Topps in that era. ” -stevejrogers

“ Reminds me of O-Pee-Chee/Topps ” -Kirbythedodger

“ The 1970 set is terrible. But I like this card. ” -cjjt

“ A card I actually have. A fairly basic card design. It's always fun to see current players on old style cards. He couldn't have played for the teams he has recently managed with that mustache though. And for those wondering yes I cut the card out of the magazine (using an exacto knife and straight edge. ” -John Kerry

“ Someone actually cut this one out? I remember the panels of cards in those magazines....three cares per panel. I guess you could call them the original Heritage and Archives. Card prices were always a touch inflated in those magazines as well. ” -tbshaw

“ I really liked the cards that Baseball Cards Magazine inserted. In fact, I miss Baseball Cards Magazine a lot! ” -cckeith

“ I'm not crazy about these magazine inserts, but they were done before Archives and Heritage sets, so I could see where somebody might want one. ” -switzr1
