7 postal workers charged with mail theft from Rhode Island distribution hub

These still may not be the ones responsible for that lost mail, but I wanted to thank those lost mail traders again for their considerate words and/or cards sent after the fact. I was feeling pretty bummed out at the time but this community is full of generous and kind people.

My aunt sent a birthday card with a gift card to me out of her workplace. It never showed up, yada yada, guy was fired from her work mailroom for theft.

Postal employees are paid so good but it still never stuns me when this kind of stuff happens.

It's really sad and these folks need to spend some time thinking what they did.

A few postal workers were charged with stealing/tampering with Amazon packages at the Kansas City Distribution Center not too long ago.  I know I got burned on an eBay item that was tracked to this location and then went MIA. Made me wonder, not saying, if my item was lost due to this group as well.  Could have very well been a dishonest eBay buyer who noticed tracking wasn't showing, the item could have gotten damaged, label ripped off, who knows. 

I wonder if this will get any better or worse as USPS closes more distribution centers. :(

I definitely don't want to excuse this terrible behavior, but I don't get the feeling that postal workers are paid extremely well relative to everything else going on in this country.

They make more than the Average worker and their union is their for them they make a average of 65k to 70k with a 2k bonus yearly. And good benefits. They also can work lots of OT

Average American salary is 38k to 55k unless specific career with no union or not as good benefits 

It's not just postal workers. There are groups of gangs that are getting their hands on the keys to open the blue USPS drop boxes, business mailboxes, etc. that are stealing mail. They are looking for checks to wash and cash.

I do not speak on behalf of the USPS, but anytime an item does not reach the destination both the seller and buyer should report it to their respective facilities.  Once a facility gets enough complaints, then the Postal Inspectors can get involved.  There's not that many Inspectors and they are spread thin, but either way...file a complaint.
