I agree. At first I thought one of the cards may have been washed out and it was messing with me, but it looks like the crowd is a little different. Maybe the photographer knew whoever batted behind Canseco was prone to hit into double plays and took the Upper Deck and Ultra photos on different days.

I'd guess more that the photographer guaranteed exclusivity to each company for their photos at a premium price, while delivering photos taken very near, sometimes a fractional second apart, the same time.
If there's an English major/teacher in here, please correct my formatting or language. Something felt wrong around 'fractional second' that I couldn't resolve.

Interesting finds by both rabin and Billy. This is the kind of stuff the I would miss totally unless I read these kind of posts.

That's not censoring by definition; "suppressing any parts that are considered obscene, unacceptable, or a threat to security or public morals". Removing or covering brand names is called product displacement. Just like removing or covering team logos on unlicensed cards. It's not censoring.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Robert “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped and summer was gone.” ― A. Bartlett Giamatti robertkimble.us/tradingcards

These two cards are the same play, one taken right after the other. I believe these are the same photographer, too. The angle looks about right to me.
