I'm entering G.Payton cards, came across TOPPS Finest #140.
From the scans, I can't tell whether I have a Retractor or not?
What other signs should I look for? Both scans look alike to me?

Hi Bob, the year helps as some refractors say Refractor or Atomic Refractor on the back or have an R. This is the 1993-94 Topps Finest #140 card. Unfortunately this original Finest series does not have any identification on the back of the card. A good scan should show a little depth in the background that might reveal a shimmer. But many are low grade and will not. You will need to put the card in your hands and angle it in the light. And then you will never look at a base card the same again!
Good luck, Greg

Hold it up to direct light. You're looking for a "rainbow" effect, basically.

TY, wish I had a contrasting card. lol. What I see is a card that doesn't look like a "regular" card? I guess it has a "shimmer" or "rainbow" look. Now, I have a few of them ALL look the same, seems odd to have more than 1 SP. Not sure what to do?

Bob, can you attach a picture of it taken at an angle and light behind it?

Hi Bob, The Finest base version has a shimmer in the light as well, but the refractor will really pop. These cards have so much color that makes it togher to see as the background is intense. But again the refractors will really stand out, not just be shiny. Post a couple pics from different angles.
Regards, Greg

Actually, the reverse is true. The Finest base are very shiny, chrome like. The refractors are duller, not as shiny, but have a "rainbow" effect. Here's the football versions; refractor on the right.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
