I'm thinking about maybe signing up for aportslots to add to my collection. I have some questions about how it works though. I would likely order 100+ cards total In one order, likely from different sellers. I would prefer to write one check for the whole order? Would it be shipped in a few orders, preferably one, or would it be shipped in multiple  packages?

I suspect it doesn't work the way I want it to, unless I was fortunate to find all the cards I want from one seller. 

I appreciate any help to my questions.

If you just order directly, you will get all the orders piled together as one shopping card, and pay a single time, but it will effectively be all those orders added together (which is why shipping would look really high).  You would then receive individual orders from each seller separately.  

You can look into the Sportlots Box option, where you order the same way, but have all the orders sent to Sportlots, where they then box all the orders together and ship them to you as a single shipment.  Theoretically it is supposed to be cheaper for the buyer that way.  It also allows you to make several orders over time and have them accumulate before having them shipped from Sportlots.

I think with the Box option, you get a notification from Sportlots as each seller's shipment arrives at the Sportlots facility.

I can attest that it's not theoretical, but actual that you'll save money on shipping. I've used the box option a couple of times in the past year and am glad I did it that way.

I just placed a 300-card order using the box option and have done orders in the hundreds several times. I try to to use as few sellers as possible and it can be done if you put a little time into it. I usually make a spreadsheet and list the sellers/prices for all the cards I want. After a while it becomes obvious most cards can be bought from just a handful of sellers, which minimizes the shipping expense.

And like others have said, shipping can seem high but is far cheaper than buying on other online platforms. You’ll get one package instead of dozens.

I second all of the above.  I usually start with a few targeted cards and see which sellers have most or all of them.  Then I search those sellers for anything else on my lists.  Typically results in a few $30-100 orders at a time.  The box shipping helps unless the seller charges full price for either.
