I've been working on my Upper Deck sets from the mid-2000s and have come to the conclusion that separating sets because they were included in a "Update" product is confusing, especially since the cards have no indication of being from said Update set and are consecutively numbered with the "base" set.

I agree; if the numbering is continuing they're no different than any other sets issued in series.

Yeah, it's confusing to have the 03 update set listed as an 04 insert set and the 04 update set listed likewise in 05. Took me a long time to find them when logging my collection!

If they are listed as an insert set in another release, I THINK Admin can link the sets (like he has done with the SI Kids sets and other sets that span years). I don't know why I never thought to see if this could be done before today. Moment of clarity! :)
